During 2009, the following members continued to serve as officers for the Indonesian Chapter: myself, as country coordinator; Roslaini Rasuman, as deputy country coordinator, and Sonya Pamoedjo, as treasurer.
Social and Business Meetings. The Chapter organizedfour social and/or business meetings during 2009.
A well-attended business and social meeting on 29 March at the Ambhara Hotel in Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta, was hosted by Dr. and Mrs. Pamoedjo Rahardjo. The main issue discussed was the preparation for attending the ADB Annual Meeting in Bali in May.
Dimyati and Nora Nangju celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on 5 December 2009.
On 7 June in Gadog, Ciawi, Mr. and Mrs. Soegito Sastromidjojo hosted a party in connection with her birthday. Many AFE members and former Indonesian Embassy diplomats from Manila attended, sang, and danced to live music.
A.A. Sidarto hosted a business and social meeting on 11 October in the 5-star Gran Melia Hotel in Kuningan, Jakarta. Many members attended, and everybody enjoyed the wide variety of delicious food. The main issue discussed was the preparation for the annual general meeting to be held inDecember.
The annual general meeting was held on 6 December in Dapur Sunda Restaurant in Jalan Cipete Raya, Jakarta, to discuss the annual report for 2009.
Participants in the chapter's annual general meeting, 6 December 2009, in Jakarta.
Attendance in Bali. The Indonesian Chapter sent a large delegation to attend the ADB Annual Meeting and the AFE–ADB Annual General Meeting because they were held in our country. The following members attended the Bali meetings on 2–5 May 2009: Mr. and Mrs. Dimyati Nangju, Mr. and Mrs. Abdullah Rasuman, Soeksmono B. Martokoesoemo and Chaya Soeksmono, Mr. and Mrs. M. Soerakoesoemah, Mr. and Mrs. Soegito Sastromidjojo, Mr. and Mrs. Normin Pakpahan, and Lucy Pandjaitan.
The Deputy Minister of Finance, Anggito Abimanyu, composed a special song dedicated to ADB and titled “From Asia to the World.” When it was performed at the opening ceremony and the cocktail party hosted by the Minister of Finance on 4 May, the song was greatly admired by delegates and observers because of its beauty and its clear message about ADB’s vision and mission in the Asia andPacific Region.
Membership Status. The Chapter lost one member in 2009—Mrs Soeksmono, who passed away in June after a prolonged illness; but we gained one member—Mr Abuzar Asra, who retired from ADB in July. However, the number of active members has been slowly declining, as some older members are unable to attend social and business meetings, while few new members are joining our chapter. This presents a challenge to sustaining the activities of the chapter in the future.
Finance. The chapter noted that both AFE overall and AFE-Indonesia need to determine what to do with accumulated funds.
