Japanese members met in Tokyo’s Grand Palace Hotel on 10 January 2010 for our annual Barrio Fiesta gathering. This was the 29th meeting, attended by 48 former colleagues and spouses, honoring former President Taroichi Yoshida.
The AFE–ADB New York–New Jersey Chapter held its 2009 reunion, with 85 former ADB staff and friends attending. The reunion was held on 24 October at the Royal Regency Hotel in Yonkers.
After over a month of typhoons that took hundreds of lives and caused billions of pesos of infrastructure and property damage—with many AFE members included among those affected—the Philippine Chapter held its annual gettogether on Thursday, 26 November 2009 at ADB’s
Executive Dining Room. The event had the appropriate theme “Unity and Harmony… (Amidst Trying Times)”. The evening's motif, dedicated to members affected by the disastrous floods, was “black and white,” connoting hope after every loss or setback.

On 21 July 2009, Finnish retirees and several current ADB employees got together for lunch at the home of Heikki Noro. The weather was warm and sunny, and lunch was followed by a lazy afternoon of reminiscing about ADB, colleagues, and life in Manila, and, of course, sauna and swimming. A good time was had by all.
The European chapter will hold its 13th annual gathering in Dresden and Environs on 10–13 September 2010. Host Peter Bodora arranged an attractive program. Anyone interested in joining should contact Peter at PBodora@aol.com or Gunter Hecker at ghecker1@t-online.de.
The Australia and New Zealand AFE chapters are holding their annual reunion on 5-8 October. It includes socializing, golf, and a tour. Activities and costs are described in one of the attachments. The venue is the Earnslaw Lodge www.earnslawlodge.co.nz It has a great location, reasonably easy walk to downtown, and stunning views over the lake.

The Philippine Chapter invites all AFE members to its Annual Get-Together festivities on Thursday, 18 November 2010 at ADB’s EDR. Members and guests are invited to come at 4:00 p.m. for registration and fellowship. The business meeting will start at 5 p.m. followed by buffet dinner, socials, fun, dancing, and games at 6 p.m.
